1. Terminal Normality
This stage describes the time before the adventure began, when life was "routine" and "normal". It is the time when everything has become predictable and to an extent, reached an equilibrium.
There is little challenge and growth.
2. Call To Adventure
This stage is when an event occurs that breaks the routine or "normality" of the life showing a different possibility. However, in order to get that different possibility, the hero needs to answer the "call to adventure."
3. Refusal of the Call
At this stage, the hero decides to not embark on the new adventure, for whatever reason that has come up creating more resistance from leaving the world that he is familiar with in TERMINAL NORMALITY.
4. Intervention
An event occurs that disrupts the hero's plans should he refuse the call to adventure. The hero has little option but to continue on the journey now.
5. Meeting with the Mentor
Events here create further epiphanies about the path ahead. Possibilities are exposed as well as obstacles ahead. Resources show up as the hero affirms his commitment to take the journey. The Mentor prepares the hero for the journey ahead.
6. Beyond The Gateway
The first step is taken and the journey starts. The hero is equipped as best as he can be, his travel companions have shown up. He has doubt, but in his commitment, he has taken action.
And he crosses into the new world for the journey.
7. New World Encounters
The new world is a strange place, beyond the reality that the hero has known. There are learning curves, and sometimes they are steep. There are challenges that come up that test his resolve. He meets adversaries and allies come to his support.
There are times when he wants to give up and turn back, but he is reminded of his commitment. He gets battered, his armour is battle-worn. His spirit is tested over and over again. His travel companions and supporters keep him going. There are moments of respite, but he knows that he cannot rest for long.
8. Final Approach
He finally understands and has become familiar with this new world. How it works and what it takes for forge forward. He has come too far to turn back now, and the only way through is forward.
9. Epic Battle
He faces the biggest challenge, the biggest opponent. There is no running away now - it is do or die.
This is the part where breakthrough happens.
10. Aftermath
The battle is over, the war is won.
The hero claims the prize - retrieves the treasure - stops the calamity - escapes the enemy.
It is time to go home.
11. The Return
The journey back is cathartic, as the adventurers recount the journey. There are lessons learnt. And they have grown stronger, forged by the fire of the adventure.
12. Transformation
The hero and his party are not the same people who started the journey. They have gained experience, skill and are in a different place.
13. Rebirth
There is no going back to the world from where they came. They no longer live in the same reality from before they started the journey, and the only way from here hence is to create new possibilities. And to go on new adventures.This is the space of creation.
14. A New World
And a new world is born.
